today being sunday and all means i get to take a break and not use my head too much so here’s a video of a song that gave me goosebumps when i first heard it. this song, an instrumental piece, is unlike anything i’ve ever experienced before. firstly, i’ve never seen a guy play an 11-string guitar (it’s actually a 12-string, but he removed one) like that. secondly, i’ve never heard a song with celtic, indian and aboriginal influences all at once.

it is a song that swoops and soars, finally coming to rest on the crest of the swells in my heart. this is john butler with his song ‘ocean’, and this is pure genius. (oh, watch his facial expressions, he goes off into a different plane when playing this song.)
