television is certainly changing in a big way. it started with free to air programming offering a limited number of channels, then came along cable and satellite television that gave viewers (or should we call them junkies) a whole plethora of choices. with everything getting digitised, it was a matter of time before ‘television’ got offered on the internet too. here’s where i introduce a streaming service called ‘joost’. catch is, it’s only for mac users so those on windows, you got to search for an alternative.

joost is an online streaming service that offers free programmes, ranging from cartoons to dramas and films to sports. you won’t find any of the shows on network television such as prison break or csi here for the obvious reason that those are the money spinners for the big networks. that is not to say the content on joost lack quality. some interesting channels i have noticed include the ministry of sound tv, happy tree friends, fifth gear (an automobile show) and even this year’s nhl playoffs. the apparent lack of content on joost at the moment will not be a problem for a long time. as of now, this service is still in beta (maybe that’s why it’s free). i believe that once this becomes a full fledged service, there will be an explosion of content.
